Children's Nursing Children's Nursing

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is a tertiary service within the NHS. It has the largest range of children’s specialties in one institution in the UK, and is at the forefront of paediatric training.

Our structure, support and learning opportunities help us work together to ensure that we are all competent, capable and confident.  In support of this are the four values that we have identified in partnership with our children, families and staff:

  • Always Welcoming
  • Always Helpful
  • Always Expert
  • Always One Team

As a Newly Registered Nurse (NRN), support and guidance is provided to assist in the transition to your new role, which can be tailored according to clinical specialty and individual needs. The Preceptorship Programme allows you to consolidate your learning as a pre-registered nurse and supports you in becoming a confident practitioner.

GOSH recruits NRN into all specialties, and we also offer a very successful NRN rotation programme.

All NRNs are offered subsidised accommodation in the area surrounding the hospital, and a series of benefits e.g. staff physiotherapists, season ticket loan, on-site nursery and Sports & Social Committee. Plenty of local restaurants, shops and businesses also offer discounts to GOSH staff.

Nursing at GOSH is more than a job, it’s a career!
