cardiac physiology
Our mission is to deliver imaging-based clinical solutions through advanced cardiac MRI, discovering and unravelling the complexities of cardiac physiology. With a strong emphasis on cardiovascular physiological assessment, discovery science, and mechanistic understanding, we integrate artificial intelligence to refine automated analysis and develop physiological models to improve precision medicine. Our ultimate goal is to create a paradigm shift in cardiac physiology, enabling a better understanding of heart disease for early detection, diagnosis, and monitoring to improve outcomes.

Principal Investigator: Dr Pankaj Garg
View my research profileI serve as the Lead Clinical Scientist of the 4D Lab, established in Norwich in 2020. I am an Associate Professor in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of East Anglia and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Foundation Trust.
Co-Principal Investigator: Dr Gareth Matthews
View my research profileI joined 4D Lab in 2022 and serve as Co-PI under the mentorship of Dr Garg. I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge in basic science, on arrhythmia mechanisms and risk prediction. I completed the Academic Clinical Fellow programme in translational science on non-contact 3D mapping of atrial fibrillation at the Royal Papworth and I am now an NIHR funded Clinical Lecturer at UEA.
