UEA Practice Learning Handbook
The Practice Learning Handbook is your comprehensive guide to the practice‑placement journey with UEA. It outlines expectations, roles, processes and support for learners, placement providers and supervisors. It covers everything from placement preparation to completion, including health & safety, learning contracts, feedback, and placement requirements.
We recommend all placement providers, supervisors, assessors and link lecturers read the Handbook prior to supervising learners.

Preparing for Placements
Before any placement begins, certain steps and documentation must be completed to ensure safety, clarity, and compliance:
Confirmation of placement allocation and learner details
Risk assessments and confirmation of suitability of placement environment
Placement agreement or learning contract (where applicable)
Induction and orientation planning for incoming learners
Preparing thoroughly helps ensure that both learner and placement provider have a clear understanding of expectations, responsibilities and support mechanisms from day one.
