Practice Educator

This course is for HCPC registrants wishing to support and assess HCPC learners within the practice learning environment. Educators must be registered on the same part of the HCPC register as those of the learners they are assessing.

An engaging update session designed to support staff involved in practice learning and student supervision. This session is intended as a refresher and update for professionals who have previously completed Practice Educator, Practice Assessor, or Practice Supervisor training (at UEA or another organisation).

It supports participants to keep knowledge and skills current and aligned with NMC and HCPC standards.

The session is interactive and includes scenario-based learning. It is structured around four core themes:

Professional Standards & Governance
  • Key NMC and HCPC responsibilities for practice supervisors and assessors

  • Maintaining safe, high-quality placements through clear roles and governance

Effective Learning Environments
  • Creating inclusive, supportive learning environments with appropriate professional boundaries

  • Using emotional intelligence, awareness of bias, and flexible supervision models

Facilitating Learning & Assessment
  • Applying learning principles, setting learning outcomes, and giving effective feedback

  • Conducting assessments and supporting learners, including those at risk of difficulty

Managing Concerns
  • Identifying issues early and escalating concerns appropriately

  • Overview of fitness to practise, appeals, complaints, and available support

Who Should Attend?

This session is suitable for professionals involved in supervising or assessing learners in clinical or practice settings, including:

  • Registered NMC or HCPC professionals

  • Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors

  • Practice Educators

  • Team leaders and managers supporting learners

Practice Education Update Training Registration

This session will provide overview of the PebblePad platform and key functionality, including the use for online practice assessment documents. This session is open to both MNA and AHP professionals. 

This flexible session can be taken alongside the Practice Education Update training or booked separately as a standalone PebblePad session.
