Norfolk Family Court Information

Five children waving

About this site

If you have a family law problem in Norfolk, England, this site is for you.  It's a joint project by UEA Law Clinic and Norfolk Community Law Service. We set it up because we know that there are lots of people in the area who need information about this.

It is designed to help you get started on how to sort out family law issues, and what the law says about them. This might be about agreeing arrangements for your children after separation, or getting a divorce, sorting out property, protecting yourself from domestic abuse, or finding out what might happen if social workers are worried about your children.

The Legal Bit

This site contains general information based on English law and although we try to ensure that it's up to date and accurate, nothing on this site is intended to be legal advice and you should not treat it as legal advice. You can find out where to get legal advice on this site. This means that we don't accept any responsibility for any information contained within this website and disclaim any liability for actions you have taken or not taken based on the contents of this site or information to which we have linked. While we’ve linked to sites that we think will be useful and reliable, we can’t guarantee they will be up to date or accurate as we won't be able to check this all the time.

You may not reproduce, copy, distribute or publish – including electronically - any information from this site without our prior written consent.

Please do not email us about your case. There are very strict rules about confidentiality in family cases, but, just as importantly, we cannot help. That's not us being difficult - it's for insurance and regulatory reasons. Contact our advice partners instead.

It is not a court website. It is not part of the court and tribunals service, the judiciary, or the Ministry of Justice.

Some of this information originated in a website written by lawyers in the Bristol area, and we have used this information with their permission.
