This part-time Professional Practice in Education MA is designed for individuals working in a wide range of educational settings, from early years to higher education, and across sectors including education policy and research within the UK. This top-up qualification allows you to transfer credits from your Initial Teacher Training programme or build on your professional experience, leading to a full Master’s degree.

Whether you aim to specialise in a particular area of education or broaden your knowledge across multiple disciplines, this programme offers you the flexibility and customisation to support your goals.
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.

Applicants who have completed a PGCE course at the UEA within the last five years can transfer 90 M Level credits towards this course. If an applicant has completed a PGCE or ITT course with another provider within the last five years they can only transfer 60 M Level credits towards this course. Applicants transferring credits may complete the course within two years.
Please contact the admissions office once you have made your application should you wish to enquire about this. Do however note that applicants transferring credits from a previous qualification are not usually eligible for a postgraduate loan. Further information about postgraduate loans can be found here.

Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading):
IELTS: 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in all components)
We also accept a number of other English language tests. Review our English Language Equivalencies for a list of example qualifications that we may accept to meet this requirement.
Test dates should be within two years of the course start date.
If you do not meet the English language requirements for this course, INTO UEA offer a variety of English language programmes which are designed to help you develop the required English skills.

Professional Practice in Education (Part Time) starting September 2025 for 2 years
