Research

The School of Chemistry at UEA has a distinguished tradition of high-quality research.

The School has well-funded research groups active in all the main areas of chemistry. In addition, we are at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, including biophysical and biological, energy materials, catalysis and computational chemistry.

Importantly, the creativity, resourcefulness and authority fostered by first class research feeds directly into the quality of our teaching at all levels. Most of our taught programmes include a major research project, which is usually undertaken in one of the school's research themes.

Our research is well funded, being financed by multi-million pound grant holdings, won competitively from a variety of sources including the National Research Councils, The European Union, the Royal Society, charitable trusts (including the Wellcome and Leverhulme Trusts and the Wolfson Foundation) and industrial companies. If you are interested in joining us specific projects are described in our research themes and current postgraduate research opportunities are described on the postgraduate research pages.

Postgraduate students form an integral part of our research community and we aim to provide a supportive and vibrant research environment in which they can develop and hone their research skills.
