The Arthur Miller Institute First Book Prize of £500 is awarded annually by the American Studies Sector at the University of East Anglia for the best first book on any American Studies topic published in the preceding calendar year. To be eligible authors should be a United Kingdom citizen based at home or abroad, or a non-UK citizen who is a member of the British Association of American Studies in the year of submission.

 

Those interested in entering a book for consideration should submit four copies, including publication details, to:

Deadline: 5 January 2018.  Books published between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017 are eligible for submission.

 

Books submitted for consideration for the BAAS book prize are ineligible for consideration for the Arthur Miller Institute First Book Prize.

 

The Awarding Committee includes a representative from the American Studies Sector at UEA and from the BAAS Executive Committee. In years which include an entry from a member of the UEA faculty, a past winner or BAAS Chair will be invited to take the place of the UEA representative. The Awarding Committee is unable to notify unsuccessful applicants or to return copies of books submitted for consideration.
