We conduct our research within four main themes:
Cells and Tissues Theme - takes a multidisciplinary approach to define mechanisms that direct development of tissue and its maintenance and repair.
Molecular Microbiology Theme - addresses fundamental aspects of microbiology and microbial biochemistry and microbial ecology.
Organisms and the Environment Theme - addresses key evolutionary and ecological questions, as well as solutions to conservation and societal problems, by studying a variety of species and systems in both laboratory and field.
Plant Sciences Theme - has broad interests, which address fundamental aspects of plant biology and plant diseases, and includes groups in The Sainsbury Laboratory.
Our funders include the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), BigC, the British Council Newton Fund, the British Heart Foundation, the Chinese Scholarship Council, EU Horizon 2020 including the European Research Council, Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), the Humane Research Trust, the Leverhulme Trust, Medical Research Council (MRC), National Environment Research Council (NERC), the Royal Society, Versus Arthritis and industrial partners.
All our themes welcome enquiries from prospective PhD students, postdocs and fellows.
