New members of staff who identify as LGBTQIA+ are very welcome and the group is steadily growing with both work-based and social meetings.
Our LGBTQ+ Equality Network aims to:
Provide support and information to staff on LGBTQIA+ matters in the workplace
Act as an advisory group on LGBTQIA+ equality & diversity issues within the University (eg contributing to policy development and implementation)
Increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ issues in the workplace
Have a positive and recognisable presence within the University community
Hold regular network meetings throughout the academic year
Organise in-person social events throughout the year to celebrate diversity and cultural inclusion
Sign-post to other LGBTQIA+ support networks and organisations
Recognise that personal lived experiences could be different from others and provide safe spaces to talk about these
Be non-judgemental
Foster respect, recognition and celebrating achievements of UEA colleagues and fellow network members
Supporting staff with networking opportunities and raising concerns with key decision-makers
Represent UEA at Norwich based LGBTQIA+ themed events, such as Norwich Pride
Celebrate LGBTQIA+ themed dates and months throughout the year, such as History & Pride Months
The network welcomes those with lived experience and allies, with an additional private channel for members with lived experience.
