Welcome to Pharmacy
Welcome to the UEA School of Pharmacy, the first new school of pharmacy in the UK for over 30 years.
School of Pharmacy at UEA voted top UK school for the third year in a row in 2009 National Student Survey
The School of Pharmacy has once again received the highest possible accolade from students in the highly influential National Student Survey (NSS) by receiving the highest ranking for the third year in a row. The School came top not just of the pharmacy schools but also the whole catchment of pharmacy, pharmacology and toxicology courses. Furthermore, the School received a 100% overall satisfaction rating from students for the third year running, the only School to have achieved this. The Head of School, Professor Duncan Craig commented "This excellent result reflects the fact that we have a dedicated and very talented group of staff teaching students who are willing to learn and to meet us half way. I feel that it is the willingness of the staff to spend time with students and to get to know them as individuals that is at the heart of this very gratifying outcome."
The School was founded in 2003 as a joint School with Chemical Sciences but is now an independent School within the university. The result means that Pharmacy at UEA has come top in the NSS for every year that it has been eligible to be considered (the NSS involves a survey of final year students). This outcome follows on from the excellent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) whereby the School came amongst the top and most respected established pharmacy schools, coming 6th in the UK (THES).
We have a unique vibrant establishment that took its first undergraduate students in 2003, graduating them in 2007 after gaining accreditation in that year from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Our new Pharmacy degree (MPharm) is the best in the UK, acclaimed for its state-of-the-art content and teaching methods and coming top in the National Students Survey every year with unprecedented 100% student satisfaction.
In the latest RAE 2008 exercise, UEA Pharmacy came 6th in the rankings of all schools of Pharmacy, despite the exercise spanning and amassing evidence from activity going back to 2001, well before the Pharmacy school at UEA was even founded. Our profile achieved by the school is 15% 4*, 40% 3*, 30% 2* and 15% 1* activity, placing us as the top new school of Pharmacy in the UK.
As you will gather from the research pages of our staff, every part of the School is involved in cutting-edge research activities, having an impressive track record in attracting grants and generating outstanding publications.
Prof Duncan Craig (Head of Pharmacy)
