The University of East Anglia provides a selection of high quality, tutor-led online writing courses in partnership with the Writers' Centre Norwich. You can join these courses from anywhere in the world - all you need is a computer and an internet connection.
What you get
The courses are designed and led by our established and experienced team of writer-tutors and take place in a private online study area.
Level 1 courses for new writers last 12 weeks while intermediate Level 2 courses run for 24 weeks. Each class is kept deliberately small to enable deep discussion and analysis. Students are encouraged to share their work and take part in the online forum. Each module includes exercises and assignments devised by the tutors.

NEW: Start writing crime fiction
New for 2018, this 12-week course is for people who want to begin writing crime fiction. You can be new to writing or wanting to improve your existing skills. Examine the themes and appeal of crime fiction and uncover how to create credible worlds and characters and craft a page-turning, tension-filled short story. Designed by the creators of UEA's Crime Writing Crime Fiction MA and the Noirwich Crime Writing Festival. Taught by Julia Crouch.
Available for beginners and experienced writers, our fiction courses start by exploring the creation of interesting characters and plots and progress to the development of complex manuscripts and experimenting with new techniques. Taught by Eliza Robertson and Mark McNay.
Available for beginners and experienced poets, our courses take you on a journey into the transformative world of poetry, broadening your understanding of the scope of contemporary poetry. Taught by Anjali Joseph and Monique Roffey.
