The Role of Faith Communities in Intercultural Communication
Intercultural identity and interreligious dialogue: a holy place to be?
The Autumn 2012 Research and Engagement seminar hosted by LCS (Monday 15th October) was led by Dr Alain Wolf and guest speaker Canon Dr Peter Doll of Norwich Cathedral.
Alain delivered the first session based on his research on intercultural identity and inter-religious dialogue. After presenting a few key concepts, he invited the audience to analyse documents on inter-religious dialogue. This led to a fruitful discussion between participants after which Peter offered a theological response based on the need for contemplation and silence.
Our special guest, Marion Houssart, UEA Chaplain, also offered thoughts on the reality of interfaith dialogue based on her own family experiences.
It was felt that these were valuable contributions to the field of intercultural communication and, in the words of one of the participants,
"It was a truly great and inspiring event".
It was also noted that another seminar could be organised, and invitations extended to people from faith communities not represented in this event.
