The School of Language and Communication Studies is just great. I learnt so much, but had a lot of fun too. Teachers push you to achieve your goals but are really supportive.

Careers and Employability

The School of Language and Communication Studies is a small, lively school where we offer various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes with an emphasis on language competence and on issues relating to contemporary language and translation. Our graduates are highly employable and enter an extremely wide range of professions using their well-developed language and communication skills and inter-cultural sensitivity.

UEA was ranked joint 3rd for Teaching and joint 5th for overall satisfaction in the 2012 National Student Survey. In the 2013 Guardian University League tables, 92% of students from the School reported satisfaction with their course.

From intercultural communication to stage translation and adaptation in performance, cross-cultural and interlanguage pragmatics to the application of systemic functional linguistics, the work we undertake within the school has successfully positioned us at the cutting edge of research.
