The Careers Using Languages Fair offers information about a range of jobs where your language skills will be used, from Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to translation work, as well as summer opportunities. There will also be information about accredited TEFL / TESOL courses as well as postgraduate language courses. CV Builder is a new tool providing space to chronicle your activities and skills developed from academic work, employment and leisure time. It can act as a personal inventory of your progress at UEA and helps to translate it into the language used in CVs and applications.

Unless you’ve been living on the moon, by now you’ll be very aware that the credit crisis has spread into a sharp global recession, with potentially serious employment implications for all students. Whilst you can follow links to some of the recent dramatic headlines below you should also know that all is not lost, provided you act now to get a grip of your employability.

Whilst we’re putting on extra events, including CV clinics every term time Monday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm in EmployAbility on The Square, you can help yourself by following our ten ways to beat the 'Careers Crisis':

  1. Stay positive – some sectors, especially in this region, aren’t doing as badly as general headlines might make you think.
  2. Be pro-active in improving your employability. If you haven’t already done so, gain as much relevant work experience as you can.
