The UEA Retirement Association offers a wide range of events and outings, from walks across the Lake District to theatre outings.

We also run a series of talks delivered by experts on various subjects; from the history of advertising to ancient trees, there's something to suit all interests.

Please see the pull down menus below for summary details of walks, talks, and outings. Full details can be found in the Renaissance newsletter which is accessible from the Association's main page.

Several holidays and outings are generally offered during the year.

There is a  four night walking break with full board organised in October offering a choice of easier, moderate and harder levels of walking and a four night easy walking break with full board in early summer. For both transport is arranged or you can make your own travel arrangements.

In addition to the above a non-walking hotel based holiday may be arranged if there is sufficient interest. For details of any of the above please refer to the Renaissance newsletter.

Talks delivered by experts on various subjects are organised most months, usually on the 3rd Tuesday in the month,  in the Costessey Centre, Longwater Lane, Costessey.  All talks begin at 2.15pm (unless otherwise stated)

No response slips are required, just pay £1 per association member and £2 per guest at the door, which includes tea and biscuits.  Each member may bring up to two guests.

There are both short walks of 2 to 3 miles and longer walks of around 5 miles, but occasionally longer. Typically walks attract between about 12 and 25 members. In the cooler months of the year walks are followed by an optional pub lunch. In summer months the walks may involve a picnic mid way through the walk or at the end. Longer walks are normally held on the 2nd Tuesday in the month. Walking boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.

For full details of walks offered including location, dates and contacts, please see the Renaissance newsletter.

The Christmas Social is the largest event organised by the Association and provides a great opportunity to meet old colleagues and friends whom you may not have seen for a while. It is held in the Costessey Centre, Longwater Lane, Costessey in early December and is free of charge, but because of room capacity limitation places have to be booked. A ploughman's style lunch is provided along with mince pies, mulled wine, non-alcoholic drinks and tea and coffee. There are usually some craft items, jams and chutneys etc for sale and there is a raffle and quiz. Details are published in the October edition of the Renaissance newsletter.
