  1. To define with the approval of Senate, implement and review the University’s strategies for the student experience, widening access and participation in line with the University’s corporate strategy

  2. To develop policies and practice that secure the student experience, assure the quality and equity of the student experience and encourage enhancement for all students including those from underrepresented student groups

  3. To ensure compliance with those polices, practice and guidance through governance arrangements that comply with the University’s statutes

  4. To monitor the impact of those polices, process and practice on the student experience.  To ensure that remedial action is taken where outcomes do not meet University requirements and those of external regulatory bodies.  Reporting annually to Senate on matters concerning the equality of opportunity for students.

  5. To ensure fairness and transparency in and to approve the University’s

    • terms and conditions for students

    • student protection plan

    • refund and compensation policy

    • guidelines for the award of University prizes.

  6. To make or endorse recommendations for consideration by Learning and Teaching Committee and other relevant University committees as required

  7. To define with the approval of Senate, implement and review the University’s strategies for the alumni experience in line with the University’s corporate strategy, to develop policies and practice and to monitor the impact of these on the alumni experience.

8. In accordance with the above terms of reference, to consider matters brought forward for its attention by the Senate, the Associate PVCs and other Committees or Sub-committees and to delegate matters appropriately for action.
