Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Athena SWAN

The School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies is fully committed to providing a fair and equal environment for work and study.

It holds an Athena SWAN Bronze award and is currently working towards the Silver Award. Athena SWAN is a Charter that recognises and celebrates good employment practices for women and trans staff working in higher education.

The Dean of Faculty is a proactive member of the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and feedback from students and staff is increasingly sought on a range of issues. The Faculty has highly diverse populations and works hard to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment in which all can flourish. The University has a range of policies to facilitate a supportive working and learning environment.

We are committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN charter which recognises and celebrates good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in Language and Communication studies, Philosophy and Political, Social and International Studies
