We offer plenty of opportunities to students who are keen to get professional experience. Here are some examples:

  • postgraduate students studying at computers
    Internships
We have ongoing links with a variety of international and national organisations through which we offer internship opportunities to our students. For example, past interns have worked at Graduate Women International, an organisation which advocates for women’s rights, equality and empowerment through access to secondary and tertiary education, in their Geneva office. Here the interns assisted with event and social media management, undertook research, and represented the organisation at United Nation Sessions.

Teaching & Work Experience during Year Abroad
Students of French and Spanish honours going on a year abroad can apply for a British Council placement, to teach English in primary or secondary schools in Spain, France or Belgium. Many students elect to do an internship on their year abroad. The School has many links with organisations overseas, such as Fundación Vivo Sano, a health defence organisation in Madrid, CEN, the European Committee for Standardization in Brussels, and SKIP, an NGO helping economically disadvantaged children in Peru.
  • More experience in the School of Politics, Philosophy, Language & Communication Studies
We are always keen to make the most of and reward student talent. As opportunities arise, we develop paid student roles that offer valuable work experience, for example as ambassadors at open days or taking care of the School’s social media platforms.

Each year we offer several research assistant internships which provide the opportunity to assist a PPL lecturer with ground-breaking research. Tasks vary and include organising events, collecting and analysing data, and writing-up reports.

In collaboration with local schools, we offer the opportunity for students to work as language ambassadors, helping to promote languages and support language-based events with young people and teachers.

On many of our degree programmes you can take the HUM placement module in your second year, which will enable you to develop work-based skills within the Creative Industries.

UEA’s internship team works hard to provide students with a variety of exciting local, national and international jobs, internships and volunteering opportunities advertised on a user-friendly platform.
