During the PGCE year, you will spend 120 days in at least two school placements.

This experience of teaching in different school settings will enable you to work with a wide range of different pupils and learn strategies to inspire and instil a love of learning in all pupils.

Our extensive partnership includes more than 120 primary schools and 80 secondary schools, mainly across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Our partner schools cover a wide geographical area, from inner city to rural settings, enabling us to offer you a broad range of contrasting placement opportunities.

Mentors and supervisors

During school placements, you will have both academic and pastoral support via a school based mentor.

You will be working closely each day with your mentor and the weekly targets they set will ensure that your teaching practice development takes place effectively. These targets are tailored specifically to your own needs.

Primary PGCE students will benefit from the support of a University Teaching Practice Supervisor in school, who will offer further pastoral support, as well as liaising with the school to help accelerate the progress you are making.

You will also benefit from the support of a University Teaching Practice Supervisor, who will offer further pastoral support and liaise with the school to help accelerate your progress.
