Our research is organised into five virtual laboratories: Colour and Imaging, Computational Biology, Data Science and Statistics, Interactive Graphics and Audio, and Smart Emerging Technologies whose activities can be found here.
Our physical laboratories are equipped with excellent special facilities such as a motion-capture suite, a haptics (touch-sensitive) laboratory, a dark-room, and a sound-recording suite. There is considerable interaction between the five labs: for instance, researchers in Computational Biology collaborate with researchers in Computer Graphics in building haptic systems to visualise molecules: researchers in speech recognition and lip-reading use similar computational techniques and tools as researchers in Machine Learning and Statistics.
