The Plant Sciences Theme has broad interests, which address fundamental aspects of plant biology and plant diseases, and includes groups in The Sainsbury Laboratory.

Research in the theme targets plant resistance to parasites and pathogens, molecular and physiological adaptations of plants to biotic and abiotic stress, dissection of signalling mechanisms in plant responses to disease and use of RNA silencing as an antiviral mechanism.

The theme has many close associations with the John Innes Centre on the Norwich Research Park

We also run a successful MSc in Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement, which draws funding for bursaries from a number of agricultural charities.
