We address key evolutionary and ecological questions, as well as solutions to conservation and societal problems, by studying a variety of species and systems in both laboratory and field.

Our focus is on understanding adaptations at levels from genes to organisms, and on applying insights from evolutionary, ecological and genetic studies to tackle pressing issues in conservation and health.

We link to others in UEA with similar goals, particularly in the School of Environmental Sciences, via the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Conservation, a concentration of expertise with over 20 members of faculty and around 70 research staff and PhD students.

We also link to the Earth and Life Systems Alliance, a strategic cornerstone of the Norwich Research Park, which takes an interdisciplinary approach to addressing the challenges of biodiversity, food security and elemental cycles.

Finally, the theme runs a long-standing and successful MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation.
