Research

in the Centre for Interprofessional Practice

We explore and help identify what underpins effective interprofessional practice that enable professionals to offer the care people need and want and how best to prepare professional for this way of working.

Our team is currently exploring:

  • Evaluation study: a mixed-methods research study exploring the education and clinical context and method of the HCA experience now delivered to all MB BS Year 1 medical students (formerly on a voluntary basis).

  • Completion and submission of an academic article examining the longer-term impact of whether participation in the Healthcare Assistant Project (while Year 1 MB BS medical students at UEA), has continued to influence doctors’ values and practice relating to a) the delivery of person-centred care and interprofessional practice and b) doctors’ perception of HCAs.

  • Leadership, in the context of interprofessional education – a mixed methods study with colleagues in Norway that is culminating in the development of an empirical framework to support educators as they integrate IPE into curricula.

The CIPP Director Professor Susanne Lindqvist is a Fellow of the UK Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education (CAIPE) and together with other Fellows she is actively engaged in research around interprofessional leadership.
