Our Spaces

Children need to explore their own potential to discover new things and develop their knowledge and interests. Here at UEA Nursery we support children to achieve this by offering a wide selection of activities planned around children’s individual interests in an environment to reflect those interests.

Children are encouraged to make choices and supported to feel good about themselves and their choices, helping to increase their confidence.

Practitioners are patient and attentive, know the children and will interact with them to encourage their sense of themselves and self-confidence. Continuity and consistency in predictable nursery routines encourages children’s sense of self and a well-planned provision supports children to access their environment independently.

    “Developing in confidence….”

In Yellow Stars, our caring and enthusiastic team offer a welcoming, safe, and secure environment that helps children, and their parents make attachments and relationships. Young children will experience a range of open-ended resources which are relevant to their individual interests. Each session offers lots of opportunities for messy and sensory play encouraging young children and babies to use all their senses to explore their environment.

There is lots to discover inside and outside every day, with exciting play opportunities that support children to build-upon what they know and be willing to get involved. Practitioners will encourage active learning and support young children to become more connected and develop a sense of belonging in their environment.

    “Becoming independent….”

Providing routines that children can carry out themselves is great for promoting independence! Blue Stars offer an enriching indoor and outdoor environment supporting children with independence and curiosity. As part of their active learning children are provided with a range of resources and props to enhance imaginative play. The Blue Stars team encourage high levels of energy, enabling children to learn from each other and develop their own motivations for learning. Practitioners provide a stable, safe environment to enable children to cope with change and challenge.

    “Learning resilience….”

In Green Stars, risky play is supported, and children make choices to plan their play in an environment that encourages autonomy. There are lots of opportunities to experience life skills, solve problems and experiment by taking risks. Children are supported to ‘invent’ their own play, and find new ways of doing things, as they make sense of the world around them. A positive self-esteem and self-worth are promoted as successes are celebrated together!

During daily Forest School sessions practitioners and children work together to ‘innovate’ new ways to learn, using resources outdoors to shape their minds. Children start to make links in their learning, predict and test their ideas as they become increasingly resilient in a natural environment, and can begin to choose the way they want to do things which involves planning and reflecting on their ideas, as they begin to take responsibility for their learning.

Daily Forest School Sessions

We have spacious outside areas that allow freedom to explore and play!

The Nursery Garden is designed so that all children can all have independent access to the outside safely from their own rooms.

The children have access to a variety of equipment for physical activities such as a multi-purpose activity centre, bikes, scooters, and balancing apparatus.

Our allotment enables children to be fully involved with gardening and growing their own vegetables.

Our own woodland Forest School site is used by all the children throughout the Nursery regularly and we have qualified Level 3 Forest School Leaders, that run Forest School sessions for all our children.
