Recent Updates
Forest School
The older children in the Nursery have been attending our Forest School most mornings.
Forest Schools were developed from the Scandinavian education system. The central theme focuses on building self-esteem and confidence through exploration and a feeling of connection with nature.
We encourage independence through practical activities and hands on experiences. Our sessions are run by qualified Forest School Leaders who facilitate individual learning and group co-operation.
This is a long term programme and children are taken regularly in order that they can have the opportunities to experience nature over time, in many different weathers and through the seasons.
There is no better place for our children to spend time during this pandemic than the outdoors!
How the Nursery have been keeping safe in a pandemic
Nursery entrance and covid guidelines signThe Nursery is operating with limited spaces during this current lockdown as per the government guidelines.
This has been a big adjustment for our team and children, but we are all embracing the changes with as much positivity as possible. The team are wearing brand new face coverings all day to protect themselves and the children. Thank you to Karen Thompson and team for arranging this with the mask company.
Parents are no longer invited inside the Nursey upon arrival but are kept up to date with Nursery life through Tapestry (on-line journal) and phone calls with team members. Our on-line journal allows us to share artwork, stories and learning development from each day which keeps our parents engaged.
What else are we doing to protect our children and staff? Well, we have robust cleaning procedures in place, including regular cleaning of touchpoints throughout the day. Windows and doors are open to make sure the Nursery is well ventilated.
The children have adapted well to this new way of Nursery life and are happy to leave their parents on a morning.
We are making good use of our amazing garden and Forest School even though it is a bit chilly!
