Hola! My name is Natalia and I am currently doing a masters in Climate change and international development. When applying for a masters I looked at other options but UEA caught my eye since the course they offered couldn’t have been a better fit for what I wanted to do. Of course, before deciding to come I did a thorough investigation to see if UEA was for me. The university has a great reputation and out of the 16,872 students in the university 2,820 are internationals which give the opportunity to meet people from all over the world such as from Norway, Russia, Japan, Italy and more! The university offers many opportunities to grow both academically and professionally, from career fairs to seminars to meeting people such as Jane Goodall and Isabel Allende, there is always a chance to expand your horizons. The university provides many services that support student throughout their time at UEA, they understand that being away from home can sometimes be difficult and want to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, want to help build a home away from home.

Speaking of home, from the moment I arrived to UEA and Norwich is felt like home! People are very friendly and there are many places to see and explore making it very difficult to get bored. In a 3-minute walk from the university you can immerse yourself in nature see a bit of wildlife and even meet some ponies on the way. There are infinite societies to join, they have something for everyone, from pasta society to wall climbing society to yoga society, you will always find someone with common interest and make great friends along the way.

So far, I have made lifelong friends whom I have shared great experiences with, I have also learned so much from amazing professors who are always available to help and none of these things would have been possible if I hadn’t come to UEA.  The university has excelled my expectations and I am sure it will do the same for you! During my Masters’ year I accommodations at UEA and I can’t recommend it enough. I was living at Suffolk Terrace and I loved having a window overlooking UEA’s lake. I lived with other students from all over the world.  I had flatmates from Japan, Russia, USA, the UK, Romania, China, and Azerbaijan. One of the parts I loved the most about it was the potlucks we organised; I got to try lovely and exotic dishes. I was lucky because I am still in contact with some of them. I never felt lonely, and whenever I wanted to be in complete silence, the library was just 2 minutes away and it is open 24/7.

All in all, UEA has made my experience as an international student outstanding and I can´t recommend it enough! If you have any questions about studying at the University of East Anglia, please do not hesitate to contact me either via the Latin American Students Facebook page or you can email me at Latinamerican.students@uea.ac.uk
