In collaboration with Pearson, we want to showcase your Stars of the East in our annual Stars of the East Awards. This online award recognises standout stars with alternative qualifications in Norfolk and Suffolk.

At UEA, we recognise that some of the best and brightest stars are those doing, and helping students to do, alternative qualifications such as BTEC, CTECH and UAL but they rarely get the recognition they deserve. We want to celebrate the success of these students and staff by giving them the spotlight on our awards platform.

For each nomination category, nominees are awarded either Gold, Silver, Bronze or Runner Up. They will be sent a certificate of this achievement, will be celebrated on social media, and Gold award winners will also be awarded a prize.

All of the nominations feature pride of place on our dedicated Stars of the East webpage. On this platform, students will also have access to dedicated resources that give further insight into going from a VTQ to a degree, and advice on making a smooth transition to university.

Our awards last year were really successful. You can see the 2020 winners and nominations on our
awards platform.

When surveyed:

  • 100% of attendees felt more positive about university and less worried about fitting in.

  • 75% felt less worried about doing well and more informed about being a student.

“Receiving the award has made me proud of my achievements, usually BTEC is looked down upon in comparison to A levels and I’m so happy that the hard work I’ve put in, has been recognised” - Participant
