Making a noise for nurses with new podcast

To mark the birthday of Florence Nightingale and to celebrate one of the worthiest and, right now, one of the most critically important professions in our society, Tuesday 12 May is International Nurses Day. The School of Nursing at UEA is associated with some fantastic students, staff and alumni and some of them share their coronavirus stories in UEA’s Podcast on Nursing.

UEA podcast on Nursing

During the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been a number of professions with heroes worth celebrating – and one group of health workers we can put firmly in that category are nurses.

So on International Nurses Day 2020 (Tuesday 12 May), we’re saluting the nurses up and down the country, and particularly those associated with UEA, with an official UEA podcast all about them.

The UEA Podcast on Nursing is a 45-minute series of stories from students, staff and alumni of the University’s School of Nursing, against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, and you can listen to it all on Soundcloud below.

The podcast features students who have embraced the challenge of going out on their first placement in the middle of a pandemic, staff members giving up their time to train retired NHS workers clinical skills, students raising money to help NHS workers and even an amazing nurse of 60 years who is UEA’s newest scholarship donor.

Not only is it International Nurses Day, but 2020 is the World Health Organisation’s Year of the Nurse and Midwife too – and of course thanks go to all the midwives doing fantastic work during this challenging time as well.
