There are many services in place for staff and students at UEA. These range from health and disability advice, career development, coaching and mentoring resources, guidance on achieving a good work-life balance and advice for staff and students with children and other dependents.

The ethos of Athena SWAN is implemented through SEESAW.

The Centre for Staff and Educational Development (CSED) was established to promote and support good practice in all aspects of developing UEA staff.

Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences Graduate School provides a Personal & Professional Development programme to all postgraduate research students.

Flexible Working Hours

Over 90% of requests made to work flexible working hours in MED have been successful. It is best to contact your Line Manager or Head of Department to discuss options.

CSED offer a staff coaching scheme that supports staff personal development

Health & Wellbeing

The University has policies in place to support those with changing family circumstances.

ResNet is an information and support network for women working in research across the Norwich Research Park.

The UEA offers a free and confidential counselling service to any member of staff.

Staff & Students with Children

UEA has a full day care Nursery offering the highest quality standards for babies and children from three months until starting school.

Supporting your return to work

The Occupational Health Department provides occupational health services to staff and some student groups.

We also have a Supporting All at Work fund (established August 2013) with an initial budget of £10,000 to support the transition back to work after an absence of at least six months, e.g. maternity, adoption leave or ill health.
