Pharmacy Technician Education Portfolio

Our Pharmacy Technician Education portfolio is designed to support learners at every stage of their professional journey, from entry-level to advanced level training. We offer flexible, high-quality programmes that blend academic excellence with real-world application. 

Certificate in Higher Education: Pharmacy Technician Practice

This programme offers a comprehensive foundation in pharmacy technician practice, aligned with national standards and apprenticeship pathways. Delivered through a blend of online and workplace-based learning, it supports learners in developing core competencies while earning a recognised qualification. Successful completion of the programme leads to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Diploma in Higher Education: Advanced Pharmacy Technician Practice

Designed for experienced pharmacy technicians aiming to progress into advanced roles, this diploma deepens clinical, technical, and leadership capabilities. Learners can choose between a standard 4-year course or a 2-year accelerated pathway, depending on prior experience. Study options are flexible and can be tailored to the individual’s role and area of practice, supporting practical application in their current workplace.

Our CPD short courses provide targeted learning opportunities for qualified pharmacy technicians seeking to update their skills, expand their knowledge, or meet regulatory requirements. Topics include Medicines Management Skills, Medicines Reconciliation and Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician programme.

Postgraduate Pharmacist Training Programme

Our postgraduate training programme for pharmacists supports career progression into specialist and advanced level roles.  With a modular structure and flexible delivery, pharmacists can tailor their learning to meet individual and organisational needs. The modules have been carefully designed and developed and are underpinned by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Post-registration Foundation Pharmacist Framework and Curricula.

A wide selection of CPD modules and courses are available to support pharmacists in areas such as:
  • Independent Prescribing for Pharmacists (October and March)

  • Clinical Skills, Consultation Skills and Clinical Therapeutics

  • Patient Safety and Governance

  • Research

  • Leadership and Service Improvement

Modules are designed to be taken as standalone CPD or can be taken as part of our acclaimed postgraduate diploma, allowing learners to build towards formal qualifications. 

We have a number of modules commencing in; November (application deadline 11 September 2025), January (application deadline 27 November 2025), March (application deadline 20 January 2026).

Postgraduate Pharmacist Training Programme and Diploma

This training programme provides a flexible pathway for pharmacists to undertake CPD or complete a postgraduate diploma if they are seeking a more robust preparation for enhanced clinical roles. It integrates academic study with workplace-based learning and is aligned with national frameworks and supports credentialling with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society competency frameworks.  By undertaking this course you will be prepared to submit to the national credentialing assessment by the RPS for the conferment of Completed Post-registration Foundation Training Status (upon completion of Independent Prescribing).  UEA are the only Higher Education Institution in England that works explicitly towards this dual recognition.
