practical session in skills lab

Situated within the Edith Cavell Building (ECB) on the West Campus of UEA, our acute care-focused skills laboratories provide a flexible and adaptable environment for clinical skills training and simulation.

Two adjoining skills laboratories offer functioning bed spaces, allowing students and clinicians the opportunity to practise and refine their ward clinical skills within a safe, simulated environment.

The laboratories can be set up as a delivery suite, a critical care setting or a fully functioning operating theatre. For larger simulations, the two rooms can be combined by removing a partition wall.

The laboratories replicate real acute hospital environments to enhance the sense of emersion in a clinical simulation. They are equipped with 360-degree high-definition video cameras which are linked to a dedicated server system. This allows simulated practice to be recorded or streamed to another location to enable a structured debriefing.
