NEW for the academic year 2024-2025, we are offering practitioners the opportunity to connect with other Reception Class Teachers locally through our Local Hub Host framework
Practitioners who are interested in this professional development opportunity will be sent a ‘digital invite poster’ and ‘local hub host pack’ to invite other local Reception Class Teachers to join them in their classroom for the scheduled meetings. They will use the materials in the ‘local hub host pack’ to make colleagues feel welcomed and part of the hub.
)
Local Hub Hosts log on to the normal online meeting. Then when it comes to the small group talks, they will not be transferred to an online breakout room, instead will turn to talk with the other people in their classroom. Its as simple as that!
As Local hubs get established, we will keep a register and let participants know. That way Reception Class Teacher will have a choice to join us online, join an established Hub or set one up themselves. Whichever way works best for you, we want to help.
‘This group has been transformational for me and my colleagues in our cluster. It has been such a great way to interact with other EYFS teachers, hear from really valuable voices in the academic world, engage with free CPD in a climate where gaining access to CPD through work is more difficult, and has been a source of support and inspiration.’
‘…this network has become a place of solidarity, of support, of inspiration and a reminder of what is important, what we need to protect and how rich and valuable our phase is. This group has also allowed my local cluster to get together regularly, share, offload and support each other and we are planning new projects and approaches based on the conversations we have had in network meetings.’
‘It is so good to have academics involved too to make sure that we stay research-informed and to provide a really open forum which isn't pushing one approach or agenda. ...this group provides something different, something really special - a chance to discuss, debate, explore, be research-informed and to give EYFS teaching the time, thought and space that can be difficult to do in a busy school, and in particular in small schools where you are the only EYFS teacher. This group is something special. I really hope it can continue and that more people can find about it and join to keep it growing.’
