Informed and persuaded: Using data and dialogue to improve workplace wellbeing and performance
1 July 2025
07.30-09.30
How can data and dialogue truly inform and persuade workplace change? Join us at our next Business Breakfast with Evolve Workplace Wellbeing to learn how organisations can improve workplace wellbeing and performance via continuous learning.
This session brings together Dr Helen Fitzhugh (Workplace Wellbeing Researcher and ‘Evolve Workplace Wellbeing’ Co-ordinator), Anna Syson (Head of Workforce Policy and Wellbeing, Cambridgeshire Council), and Matt Wilson (UK Wellbeing Lead, Computacenter) to explore how organisations can use multiple sources of insight to drive real improvements in wellbeing and performance. From building data dashboards to embedding ways to speak up and feed back, our speakers will share practical strategies and lessons learned. This is your opportunity to discover how to turn information into influence and action.
About the speakers:
Dr Helen Fitzhugh is a Senior Research Associate with Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia, UK. The golden thread running through her research is the exploration of why, how, and how successfully, different organisations work to create social change. In the first part of her career this involved a focus on social enterprises and the publication of Inside Social Enterprise: Looking to the future with Nicky Stevenson. More recently she has worked on issues of workplace wellbeing and knowledge exchange, including engaged research with the UK police service (Mindfulness for Performance and Wellbeing in the Police: Linking Individual and Organizational Outcomes - ROPPA) and research on how businesses dealt with workplace wellbeing during the Covid-19 pandemic (Authenticity in the Pursuit of Mutuality During Crisis - BJM).
Anna Syson is the Head of Workforce Policy and Wellbeing at Cambridgeshire County Council, where she leads the organisation’s approach to employment. Having spent the early part of her career in operational HR, in the last five years she has shifted her focus to making wellbeing an integral part of Cambridgeshire’s workforce strategy, establishing feedback and data on the wellbeing and engagement of colleagues as a regular part of the leadership agenda, and informing decisions on meaningful interventions and approaches that create a supportive and inclusive culture. In the final year of an MSc on Workplace Health and Wellbeing, Anna has further developed her view that data and evidence enable us to create healthy workplaces in which people can thrive and contribute most effectively to organisational outcomes.
Matt Wilson is the UK Wellbeing Lead at Computacenter, where he leads the organisation’s wellbeing strategy and champions a culture of inclusion and support. He is a qualified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) and leads Computacenter’s MHFA network, supporting colleagues and promoting open conversations around mental health. With a strong background in people engagement and organisational development, Matt champions holistic approaches to wellbeing that align with business goals. His passion lies in creating environments where individuals can thrive both personally and professionally.
