COAS represents the largest grouping of researchers in ocean and atmospheric sciences in the UK with more than 25 faculty involved plus more than 30 post-doctoral researchers and more than 40 PhD students. A list of current PhD opportunities are available at https://www.uea.ac.uk/environmental-sciences/research-degrees. Most of the COAS scientists are based in the School of Environmental Sciences but COAS extends to the School of Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. COAS has close working relationships with the Tyndall Centre and CRU at UEA and with researchers and institutes throughout the UK and worldwide. COAS scientists also play a major role in the Collaborative Centre for Sustainable Use of the Seas (CCSUS), strategic partnership between CEFAS at Lowestoft and UEA which aims to improve management of the marine environment. Some of our PhD students are also based at partner organisations including the British Antarctic Survey and Plymouth Marine Laboratory.
