Bone Segmentation

The hand outline gives us an exact area of the radiograph where the bones are located. For ASMA we have concentrated on extracting the phalanges of the middle finger. This is done by calculating the webs and tip of the middle finger to find its axis. A region of interest (ROI) for each bone is then found. We then segment the bone from each ROI using canny edge detection and gaussian pyramids. Full details of these stages can be found in [3].
