Biographies

Holly Leonard - Holly manages the events and engagement team at UEA. She has extensive experience of delivering public-facing events in a University setting, including concerts, guest lectures, festivals, outdoor events and corporate events. Holly managed the University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2013, which included a large-scale festival which attracted around 10,000 people to campus to participate in over 100 activities. Holly is particularly interested in developing new and innovative ways of engaging the public and community groups with academic research. In 2014 she worked with academics in ENV to deliver the London Volcano activity – a week-long, interactive research demonstration located at the Natural History Museum in London.

Ruth Selwyn-Crome - Originally trained as an art historian at Camberwell, Ruth has worked at UEA since 2005 and joined the public engagement beacon team CUE East in April 2010. Ruth operates the Small Expenses Scheme, administrates UEA's Engagement Awards and conducts an annual Social, Community and Cultural Engagement Survey for UEA's return to HEBCI. Ruth also has input into training academics for Engagement activity. Ruth gained an MA in Creative Writing –Scriptwriting in 2009 and harbours aspirations to win an Oscar some day, but meanwhile her public engagement related tweets can be found by following @engageatuea.

Emily Mondon - An English Literature graduate from the University of York, Emily has recently joined the team after working for an employee-volunteering charity where she brought businesses, academics and students together to deliver family events. Here at the UEA she coordinates a range of public engagement, alumni and corporate events, including the Children’s Christmas Lectures. Three times a year, she produces UEA’s What’s On guide, collating and promoting public events taking place across the University. Emily also manages UEA’s online calendar listings and the @UEAEvents Twitter feed.
