Biographies

Holly Leonard - Holly manages the events and engagement team at UEA. She has extensive experience of delivering public-facing events in a University setting, including concerts, guest lectures, festivals, outdoor events and corporate events. Holly managed the University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2013, which included a large-scale festival which attracted around 10,000 people to campus to participate in over 100 activities. Holly is particularly interested in developing new and innovative ways of engaging the public and community groups with academic research. In 2014 she worked with academics in ENV to deliver the London Volcano activity – a week-long, interactive research demonstration located at the Natural History Museum in London.

Rachel Watkins graduated with a degree in Business Economics from UEA in 2007 and has since worked with the University in a range of roles, before finally joining the events and engagement team in 2017. Here, she coordinates a range of public engagement, alumni and corporate events, including the Children’s Christmas Lectures. Three times a year, she produces UEA’s What’s On guide, collating and promoting public events taking place across the University. Rachel also manages UEA’s online calendar listings and the @UEAEvents Twitter feed.

Ruth Selwyn-Crome graduated from Camberwell with a degree in Art History and worked for many years in contract publishing. Ruth joined UEA in 2005, joined the public engagement beacon CUE East in 2010 and the central events team in 2012. Ruth operates the Small Expenses Scheme, administrates UEA's Engagement Awards and conducts an annual Social, Community and Cultural Engagement Survey for UEA's return to HEBCI. Ruth gained an MA in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) in 2009 and harbours aspirations to win an Oscar some day, but meanwhile her public engagement related tweets can be found by following @engageatuea.
