Santander Universities

Santander Universities are offering the chance for two start-up companies and two ideas for businesses to win a whole range of prizes. The top prize is £15,000, consultancy from Santander and a brand makeover, including website design from Talent Cupboard!

Who can apply?

  • Students at UEA or those that have graduated since 2014
  • You can apply as an individual or as a group
  • Must be a UK resident or have a full UK student visa
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Students or alumni must own at least 50% of the business.

What we need from you

Submit to info.enterprise@uea.ac.uk by 5pm Monday 4 April 2016:

  • An executive summary of the business (not exceeding 2 x A4 pages)
  • A business plan (no longer than 10 x A4 single sided pages)

Entry criteria for the four categories:

  1. Idea entry for ‘New technologies and mobile applications’ category

A business plan for an idea of a business where a mobile application or technology is key to the business model that is not trading but will be ready to launch within one year.

  1. Start-up entry for ‘New technologies and mobile applications’ category

A business that has been launched within the last five years where a mobile application or technology is key to the business model.

  1. Idea entry for ‘Important day-to-day products and services’ category

A business plan for an idea of a business that is centred on everyday products/services, creative projects or a focus for benefiting society. The business cannot be trading but will be ready to launch within one year.

  1. Start-up entry for ‘Important day-to-day products and services’ category

A business that has been launched within the last five years that is centred on everyday products/services, creative projects or a focus for benefiting society.

Important dates

  • 5pm Monday 4 April 2016: Submit your application to info.enterprise@uea.ac.uk
  • Thursday 21 April 2016: Review panel to identify the four plans to be submitted on behalf of UEA
  • Friday 29 April 2016: Final UEA applicants will be notified and submitted to Santander
  • Friday 10 June 2016: Santander will announce the top 10 candidates from each category
  • Friday 17 June 2016: Successful UEA candidates will be coached on how to present their ideas effectively
  • Thursday 30 June 2016: Candidates will pitch their ideas for 15 minutes to a panel of judges, and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
