Insight Ecology is an independent ecological consultancy advising on, researching and implementing conservation interventions for ecological issues within the planning and development sector. Supporting responsible development, we help our customers navigate the often bewildering world of environmental policy and law to ensure legal compliance and a positive outcome for development and the environment. Working with clients including NGOs, local government, architects, developers and home owners, we pride ourselves on providing a complete ecological service from baseline surveys, Ecological Clerk of Works, protected species surveys and impact assessments, to habitat creation and mitigation design, implementation and monitoring.
Graduating from UEA with a BSc in Ecology and currently studying (part-time) for a PhD in Conservation Biology (University of Bristol) I specialise in the study and conservation of bats (chiropterologist). Particularly interested in studying ways to reduce human-wildlife conflict within the built environment, I see consultancy as an excellent way to make a positive impact on our natural surroundings.
UEA Student Enterprise, especially Finbarr Carter and his team have been a source of invaluable support throughout the start-up process. As a trained biologist, I had no idea how to manage a business, market my skills and build effective customer relationships. UEA’s training courses, advice and networking opportunities coupled with Finbarr’s creative approach to business coaching has, and continues to help me develop the skills I need to run Insight Ecology.
