Criteria for Course Transfers and Module changes - 2023/24
1. Course Transfers
New students are permitted to transfer course up to the end of Week 3 during the Autumn Semester without concession where the following criteria are met:

The request is student driven and their rationale for the change is clear and considered

There is agreement that it is in their interests to do so

The student has discussed their request with a member of academic staff within their current programme (normally their Adviser) who is supportive

The student meets the entry / eligibility criteria for the proposed new course

The new course is ‘open’, there is a place available, including on any core or compulsory modules and there is space in the allocated teaching room(s)

The new Course Director is supportive and there is confirmation of a learning agreement in place, agreed with the student, to remediate any missed learning activity and support transition

The Admissions Director (or delegate) in the new School is supportive

2. Module changes
Undergraduate and taught postgraduate students are permitted to change module up to the end of Week 3 in the Autumn Semester and Week 2 in the Spring Semester (for year- long module the change must occur in the Autumn Semester) without concession where the following conditions are met, in advance of the request to change:

The request is student driven and their rationale for the change is clear and considered

The modules affected are NOT core or compulsory

There is agreement that it is in their interests to do so

The student has discussed the request with the new module organiser and they are supportive

The student meets any prerequisites for the new module

There is a place available on the module including space in the teaching room(s)

The change does not take the student off-profile beyond that which is allowable under regulations.
3. Students on courses that do not follow the standard academic year are permitted to change course or module according to the principles above.
4. Any request to change a module or course after the deadlines will be treated as a concession; the requests must have the support of the School, including a learning plan agreed with the student to remediate any missed learning activity.
