Doctorate in Educational Psychology

Teaching is a core part of the programme which is organised into modules to provide a coherent framework. The teaching elements feed into the development of the ‘HCPC Standards of Proficiency’ and the ‘BPS Standards for the Accreditation of Doctoral Programmes in Educational Psychology’.

There are three overarching strands to teaching on the EdPsyD:

  • Academic

  • Practice

  • Research

There are 10 modules that make up the EdPsyD. Each year trainees complete modules that add up to 180 credits per year totalling 540 credits by the end of 3 years.

In Y1, trainees complete 5 modules:

  • EDU-R03Y – Child in context

  • EDU-R04Y – Consultation, assessment and intervention

  • EDU-R05Y – Professional practice 1

  • EDU-R06Y – Critical psychology and pedagogy

  • EDU-R07Y – Advanced research and applied psychology 1

In Y2 trainees complete 3 modules:

  • EDU-R98Y – Therapeutic interventions

  • EDU-R09Y – Professional practice 2

  • EDU-R10Y – Advanced research and applied psychology 2

In Y3 trainees complete 2 modules:

  • EDU- R11Y Professional practice 3

  • EDU-R12Y – Advanced research and applied psychology 3
