The PGCE is designed to provide a minimum of 120 days in two school placements and additional days which allow for opportunities to prepare and rehearse key teaching skills.
This experience of teaching in different school settings enables you to work with a wide range of different pupils and learn strategies to inspire and instil a love of learning in all of them.
The schools
Our extensive partnership includes more than 200 schools, mainly across Norfolk and Suffolk, with some in Cambridgeshire.
Our partner schools cover a wide geographical area, from inner city to rural and coastal settings, enabling us to offer you a broad range of contrasting placement opportunities.
Support
During school placement, you will have both pedagogical and pastoral support via a subject-specific or phase-specific school mentor.
As a Primary PGCE student, you will benefit from the support of a University Teaching Practice Supervisor in school, who will offer further pastoral support, as well as liaising with the school to help accelerate the progress you are making.
As a Secondary PGCE student, you will also benefit from the support of a school-based Professional Mentor, who will offer further pastoral support, as well as coordinating a school specific Professional Development Programme. You will be supported throughout by your University Subject Lead.
