Careers and Employability
Our Excellence in Teaching
Economics is an evolving discipline, and you could be at the frontier of it by joining the School of Economics at UEA. We offer a dynamic and supportive environment, emphasizing both your academic excellence and career readiness. We are committed to your learning, your employability, and creating an outstanding student experience.
The structure of our undergraduate programmes is based on education research, reflecting the excellence and diversity of our research and our passion in developing our curriculum for you. We use innovative techniques to teach and assess, while our School’s Advisory Board provide industry-informed intelligence to enhance your education and learning experiences.
There are a wide range of modules within the programmes we offer, from foundational economics to specialized areas such as financial markets, environmental economics, behavioural economics, data science, sport economics, programming, and many more.
The modules are designed not only to provide in-depth knowledge but also to develop your employability skills through diverse assessments such as group presentations, policy briefs, and consultancy projects. You could

improve your time management skills and the ability to work under pressure with in-class tests.
learn to work with industry used specialised software such as Stata as well as Excel through computer-based projects and assessments.
build your confidence through presentations to your classmates, teachers, or potential employers.
boost your creativity by designing innovative interventions.
improve your communication skills by describing your economics research to the local communities and businesses.
Our Community
Our excellence in teaching standards is closely associated with a strong dedication to the pastoral and academic care of our students through our advising and academic support system at the School as well as the Learning Enhancement Team and the Student Services.
At the School of Economics, being part of our community isn’t only about studying – it is about embracing a lively, supportive, and social experience. As a student, you’ll have the chance to participate in exciting events such as the annual Ziggurat Challenges, where all UEA schools compete in various sport disciplines. You could join regular social events where students and staff come together for informal conversations and a break from study.
