As a PhD student you will be required to pass a formal assessment to lift your probation period.
This will include mandatory elements mandated by the Faculty of Social Sciences. Also, as part of the School of Economics, you will undertake an assessment by an oral presentation, which normally takes place in the form of a short seminar as part of the Annual First Year PhD Students’ Mini-conference. Students are requested to discuss their research to date and to present an outline of the remainder of the thesis.
Should a student not be able to pass the probationary review on the first attempt, a further meeting will be organised in September, and an additional presentation in front of the School will be arranged.
