Our students have secured internships at several top companies and organisations, including Deloitte, EY, Government Economic Services, Handelsbanken, L’Oréal, Office for National Statistics, PwC and Willis Towers Watson, amongst others.
Internships typically lasts between 4 and 12 weeks but as a School we have recently introduced a placement year that provides opportunities for students to spend between 9 and 12 months working full-time.
As well as providing valuable work experience, internships and placements offer students both a better understanding of the recruitment process and an occasion to apply skills they learned on their course. Exposure to micro and macroeconomic theory and econometrics, along with the wide portfolio of coursework demanding different skills, are features that students bring to the internship/placement and further strength during the internship/placement. The expertise of the School on behavioural economics, competition policy and experimental economics, makes our Economics students a unique asset for companies and organisations.
The School also offers a number of part-time and full-time paid internships to work alongside academics on their research projects. This is not only a chance to stimulate the academic interest but to get to know how friendly our staff are.
