Many of our students secure internships that typically last between 4 and 12 weeks at top organisations, including Deloitte, EY, Government Economic Services, HSBC, Office for National Statistics, PwC, and Willis Towers Watson, amongst others.

We also have an established Placement Year (also referred to as “Professional Placement” or “Year in Industry”), providing opportunities for students to spend typically 12 months working full-time. Placements normally take place between the penultimate and the final year of study. Our students have gained places at a variety of organisations in both the public and private sector in a range of industries, recent examples include Accenture, Crown Commercial Service, Dyson, EDF, L'Oreal, NatWest, NHS, Sainsbury's, and Unilever.

As well as providing valuable work experience, internships and placements offer students both a better understanding of the recruitment process and the possibility of applying skills learnt on their course. The expertise of the School is in areas that include behavioural economics, competition policy and general analytical skills provided in many of our modules makes our Economics students a unique asset for companies and organisations.

Throughout spring and summer, the School also offers several paid internships to work alongside academics on their research projects providing a unique opportunity to develop and learn more about the process of and contributing to academic research.
