The Cells and Tissues Theme takes a multidisciplinary approach to define mechanisms that direct development of tissue and its maintenance and repair.
Key areas include:
Development and Stem Cell Biology
Cardiometabolic health and disease
Musculoskeletal health and disease
Research in the theme is undertaken within the School of Biological Sciences and the Biomedical Research Centre (BMRC), a pioneering collaborative venture between the School of Biological Sciences and UEA's Norwich Medical School.
Purpose built, the BMRC houses over 100 scientists working on fundamental biological processes within these key areas, and on applied and translational research with industrial partners and with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Quadram Institute on the Norwich Research Park. The BMRC Wellcome Trust-funded Disease Modelling Unit (DMU) supports pre-clinical studies and in vivo imaging.
The theme also runs a successful MSc in Molecular Medicine.
