All the dates and details of our semesters for the academic year are listed below.
Postgraduate Research Students
Postgraduate Research (PGR) students are required to be in attendance throughout the year, in person, except where alternative arrangements have been approved by a Postgraduate Research Student concession.
The academic year for PGR students runs from 1 October to 30 September, with PGR students able to register and commence their studies on either 1 October, 1 February, or 1 June each academic year.
PGR students receive 8 weeks annual leave entitlement during an academic year (pro-rata for part-time students). Annual leave cannot be carried forward into the next leave year - it does not affect the duration of a student’s period of study.
Students registered on accredited professional doctorate programmes do not follow the standard PGR annual leave arrangements and their leave entitlements are detailed within the programme handbooks.
Postgraduate Taught Students
Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students are expected to be in attendance during the standard semester dates and during the dissertation element until the end of their course. They may also be required to undertake University assessments outside semester during the Christmas and Easter vacations.
