Will you leave a legacy gift in your will to UEA?

Leaving a legacy gift in your will is a powerful and meaningful way to ensure that your values, passions, and support for education and research continue to make a lasting impact.

Whether it is for student experience, ground-breaking research, campus development or innovative programmes, your legacy gift can help shape the future of education, enriching the lives of countless individuals. It is a unique opportunity to leave behind a legacy that will endure, inspire, and benefit generations to come.

The impact and benefit of leaving a gift to UEA in your will

UEA’s mission “the advancement of education and research for the public benefit” was laid out in our founding Charter. From this come our core goals, excellence in Teaching and Learning, and in Research and Innovation. By leaving a legacy gift to UEA, you are contributing to the University's mission of advancing knowledge, empowering students, and driving positive change in our world.

A legacy gift of any size can have a significant and lasting impact on UEA’s work. Many legacy donors choose to leave a bequest to support the general purposes of the University, which goes towards the priorities that are most pressing when the gift is received. Others choose to support a particular department or area of research or education.

Tax benefits

We recommend discussing all potential benefits of leaving a legacy gift to the University with your solicitor or financial planner, given that the law varies by country, and inheritance tax is a complex area.

However, as an exempt charity, a gift in your will to the University can be tax-exempt and so could reduce the amount of inheritance tax payable, if the net value of your estate is above the inheritance tax threshold.
