Why choose Melbourne?

As Australia's second oldest university and consistently highly ranked, the University of Melbourne offers a prestigious academic experience to incoming students. Melbourne's Parkville campus is just outside the Central Business District and is close to transport, cafes, shopping, arts and sports venues and accommodation.

The University also offers a multitude of societies and sports clubs across several campuses. These vary widely but include food, dance, culture and language, among many others. Volunteering is also strongly encouraged and opportunities are available both on and off campus.

Melbourne is a truly global city with influences from all over the world. Whether you're looking for an Italian espresso bar, greek souvlaki, the best dumplings or simply a traditional Aussie meat pie you will find it in Melbourne. Cultural events take place throughout the year including the international comedy festival and food and wine festival. Melbourne is also the sporting capital of Australia and home of Aussie rules football. Soak up the Grand Prix, Australian Open or cricket at the MCG.

Beyond Melbourne city you can easily reach St Kilda Beach. Beyond there you can road trip along the beautiful Great Ocean Road or go wine tasting in the Yarra Valley. Melbourne has 2 airports and train and coach options to explore the rest of Australia.
