Food revolution

There’s an incredible array of new and exciting restaurants in Norwich popping up all the time. Norwich has caught the ‘proper pizza’ bug and has two wood-fired pizza places called Brick and Donnelli’s. The Bicycle Shop is a cozy-cool hangout with great food and chillout bar while vegan options are covered by The Tipsy Vegan restaurant and Ancestors cafe.

When you’re away from home, it’s good to know that your favourite restaurants are always on hand. Norwich has plenty of chain restaurants so you’ll always have places to catch up with friends. Many have special student deals or offer NUS discount to make dining out affordable.

Norwich city centre once had a pub for every day of the year but now the emphasis is on quality over quantity. These are some of the highlights from a buzzing bar scene.

Beer lovers

Brew Dog pub

If you love beer, Norwich is the place to be. Inspired by the craft beer revolution, The Tap House attracts a young crowd with its welcoming vibe and Brewdog, with its industrial feel, is the ideal place to start your bar crawl. Over at The Birdcage, you’ll find the idea of the pub reinvented with a quirky feel, vibrant atmosphere and a great drinks menu. The regular music and poetry events are big crowd-pullers as well as the chance to meet Maraud, the resident cat!

Norwich has seen an explosion in cool bars you’ll want to hang out in. A firm favourite is Frank’s, the kind of all-rounder that’s laid-back but full of life with boardgame nights and quizzes. Over at Bar 11, the emphasis is on classy decor and the latest music with a mixed crowd of locals, students and out-of-towners.

Coffee and Tea Lovers

Storm in a Tea Cup

Norwich has a network of top-notch cafes. You’ll find Storm in a Teacup perched atop of Norwich’s most pretty street, Elm Hill, with its old world charm. Slap bang in the middle of town, there’s Biddy’s Tea Room; a cafe that's eccentric and homely at the same time with a focus on amazing teas and equally amazing cakes.

And then there’s Strangers. This specialty coffee shop has gone from strength to strength with its tripped-back cool interior and dedicated team who serve your coffee just the way you like it.
